Jason’s martial arts journey began in 2006 after returning from military deployment during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was first introduced to the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and Grappling while stationed in Tampa, Florida where he trained Muay Thai, kickboxing, boxing, and grappling. In 2008, relocated to Alaska where he found Anchorage Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and after watching one vigorous training session, he knew ABJJ would be his home. As a Blue Belt, Jason was an assistant coach to Professor Ryder in the early years of ABJJ’s Kids BJJ program. Now as a Black Belt, Jason strives to carry on the ABJJ reputation of raising the room and helping others develop a never quit attitude on the mat and in life.
